Amazon.com Product Description
In most cases, temperatures above 75 degrees F and below 54 degrees F will disrupt sleep, but even sleep researchers fail to agree on the perfect temperature for a restful night's slumber. Enter the ChiliPad bed temperature control system, an innovative mattress-top sleeping pad that cools or heats the bed depending on your sleeping preferences. As a result, you can find an ideal temperature whether you prefer a slightly cooler mattress--usually recommended for better REM sleep--or a warmer mattress, a must when the mercury outside drops. The ChiliPad is adjustable from 68 all the way to 118 degrees F, with an intuitive wireless remote handling the temperature variation in 1-degree increments.

Larger ChiliPads offer dual-zone coils with independent temperature controls.
Technology
ChiliPad technology uses water instead of air to generate a wide range of in-bed temperature adjustments. Similar to the semiconductor technology that cools your computer, water passes by the chip and, depending on the direction of electron flow, the water is cooled or heated. The water then flows through the soft coils in the mattress pad to actively adjust the temperature of the surface at a fraction of the cost of air conditioning or heating. The motor is virtually silent (under 45 decibels) and fits under a standard bed frame.

ChiliPads are available in all standard mattress sizes.
Sizes and Zones
The ChiliPad is available in such mattress sizes as twin, twin XL, full, queen, California king, and king. The queen and king sizes are also available with dual-zone coils, which allow you and your partner to sleep at different temperatures, with independent motors and controls that vary between 63 and 100 degrees F. At last, both partners can sleep comfortably without disturbing the other.

The ChiliPad is sold with a three-year manufacturer's warranty.

Product Description
ChiliPad Temperature control Mattress Pad will help you in your battle to achieve restful sleep. Regulating your sleep temperature will help you to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. This mattress pad is made to fit all standard size mattresses. There are two options for temperature control. The single zone option will allow you to cool or heat the entire surface of the bed, while the dual zone option will allow you to adjust each side of the bed to your desired temperature. This bed toppers will also help to keep you warm. This is a safe alternative to extra blankets or electric blankets on the bed. The ChiliPad can be adjusted up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The dual zone option will allow you and your partner to sleep at different temperatures and will put an end to fans, extra bed clothing and bed coverings. ChiliPad technology uses water instead of air to generate a wide range of in-bed temperature adjustment. Similar to the semi-conductor technology that cools your computer, water passes by the chip and depending on the direction of electron flow the water is cooled or heated. The water flows through soft coils in the mattress pad actively adjusting the temperature of the surface. Using advances in semiconductor technology the temperature can change from 65°F to 100°F, at a fraction of the cost of air-conditioning. The result is the effect of a cool or warm bed throughout a night's sleep. The motor is virtually silent (under 45 decibels) and has been designed to fit under a standard bed frame. It is controlled in one degree increments with a hand held remote. The benefits of a cooler nights sleep are medically proven to increase the amount of REM sleep during the night. This is a revolution in sleep! Chilipad is available in the following options: Single Zone - Twin, Single Zone - Full, Single Zone - Queen, Single Zone - Twin XL. Dual Zone - Queen, Dual Zone - King, Dual Zone - California King.

4 out of 5 stars I'm in love!!   December 2, 2009

I am head over heels in love with this product! I'm like a little heater when I'm asleep and I wake up sweating all the time and then can't go back to sleep because I can't find a cool spot in the bed. I also like to snuggle up in a big comforter, which is hard to do when I'm always hot, and on top of that, I work night shift so I sleep during the day -- in the Texas heat. I was turning my AC down to the 60's just to sleep halfway decently and my energy bill was through the roof.
Then I found the ChiliPad! I sleep like a baby now! I wake up in the exact same position I fell asleep in because I'm sleeping so deeply and now I can keep my house at a much more reasonable temperature. I love that my boyfriend and I can keep our respective side of the bed at different temperatures and still sleep comfortably next to each other.
The ChiliPad isn't perfect, but it's pretty close to it for me. Like others have said, it can be a little noisy, but I find it as a "white noise" sort of thing that drowns out other sounds of the neighborhood. It just sounds like a strong fan. And when both pumps are on the cool setting, it can warm up the room quite a bit - which kind of defeats the purpose, yet the bed is cool enough that I don't even notice until I wake up and get out of bed. Yes, the display is kind of bright, but you can cover up the power light with a piece of electrical tape. And since I'm usually asleep during the day, it's not really a problem. For those that found it doesn't cool enough, I thought I had the same problem the first night I tried this. However, the next night I turned it "inside out" so the bottom of the pad was face up so that you are lying directly on the coils and it is GREAT!!
I highly recommend this and I can't figure out why it isn't more widely advertised. I sleep better than I ever have before!!

I just purchased the Chilipad so these are initial reactions. I read all the reviews and found them mixed. Either loved or hated and a waste of money. I called the company directly and the customer service rep assured me that they honor the 90 day money back guarantee. So I ordered. It took over three weeks to get, but I think it was worth it. The first night I found it loud, bright and did not fit under the bed. It made the room HOT. It is the first time I had ever gotten up in the night and found a HUGE difference in temp between the bedroom and the hall. I would say atleast 6-8 degrees. So the pumps throw off a lot of heat. Deciding that between that and the brightness of the panel lighting up the room to much, we had to alter the application. Our bed is on a wall that has a closet to the dressing room on the other side. We drilled two holes (KING has dual pumps) through the wall and placed the pump on the other side of the wall in this closet. The tubes were long enough to comfortably reach the pumps. WALLA, the problems solved. The remotes work through the wall, no more heating up the bedroom, no bright lights, and no noise. I found that my side cools so well that I can't set it on the lowest number - 46 degrees. We had adjusted the thermostat in the house to 76 degrees (our daytime temperature) when we usually had to lower it at night to 70-72 to be comfortable. I was SHOCKED when I woke up too cold, when I had full covers on. I HAVE BEEN SO HOT THE LAST FEW YEARS - I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW HAPPY I AM TO HAVE A COOL BED. I LOVE A COOL BED. Previously, I was waking up trying to find a cool spot. Not an easy task when you have a partner in the bed. I am happy we were creative enough to solve the problems and now have the perfect solution to being cool in the night. Also, warm without an electric blanket in the winter will be a plus for my husband. (I'm not cold in the winter) I don't like the idea of the electric fields in an electric blanket around me either. THANK YOU CHILIPAD FOR THE BEST SOLUTION TO A HOT BED. I am your biggest fan so far. The three year warranty gives me peace of mind. We spent $600, so $200 a year to be cool at night is a real bargain. If it lasts longer, even better. Give it a try, confirm the 90 day warranty and buy directly from the company. I think they will honor their return policy if you don't like it. [...]

UP DATE
Nothing but cool nights and great sleep for me baby.....since I made the modifications, I can't tell you how much i love it. It works beautifully. I had to turn it up to about 62 because I was actually too cold in a room that is 76 degrees. UNHEARD OF!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Now, if it gives me 5 wonderful years, I will be extraordinarily satisfied with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars The ChiliPad rocks!   July 27, 2009

My hot flashes started about four years before menopause, and let me tell you i had tried everything: herbal supplements, Wicking Pajamas, Pillow Inserts, and I even bought a new mattress. My poor husband was FREEZING and I was SWEATING while we fought about fans and the temperature of the thermostat. But other than Estrogen Treatments (Which can be dangerous... so I hear ... ) nothing was beating my Hot Flashes until the ChiliPad. Now both my husband and I can sleep comfortably.

2 out of 5 stars Does not Cool below 55 deg   April 23, 2009

I bought this pad primarily for the cooling capability, which is specified as "down to 46 degrees". (Apparently, the older models were only down to 68 degrees.)

However, in practice, the best I have ever been able to achieve was 55 degrees. This was after leaving the unit on for over 4 hours (without me being on the bed, which I expect would warm it up more). And this was in a room with an ambient temperature of around 75 deg.

So, this pad has helped me sleep a little bit cooler ... but I don't think I would have purchased it for this price knowing that it only cooled to 55.

5 out of 5 stars A year later, very happy with it   February 16, 2009

I've owned one of these for about a year. The big selling point is of course the cooling feature, since warming a bed with an electric blanket would be far cheaper. If it lasts for a couple of years, it will probably pay for itself since air conditioning is far less effective than having cool water circulating below you. For that reason, this may be considered a "green" product, since it takes more energy to cool a houseful of air than to cool the two cups of water running through this.

Pros: Energy savings, two sides of the bed can be different temperatures, built-in timer can turn it off before you freeze at 3 am, more comfortable than an electric fan, remote control.
So-so: It's about as loud as a box fan at medium speed. I actually like falling asleep to such a sound, others may not. Maybe keeping it under the bed would muffle it some.
Cons: Pretty darned expensive.

I actually found out about this product from one of the social news sites, it might have been digg. I was a bit scared to buy it since there were few reviews, but I took the plunge and it has been a great purchase. A cool bed in the summer is something I've missed since giving up my old waterbed 20 years ago.

What I don't understand is why this isn't a top-seller... it's such a simple concept.
