4 out of 5 stars Easy to Read Scale   November 12, 2009
David R. Cerutti (Fond du Lac, WI)
Wanted a scale that was not digital and easy to read. The Salter Professional fit the bill. Accurate, wide platform and looks good. Reasonably priced with Amazon's service make it a great buy.

4 out of 5 stars Works well, looks slightly cheap.   October 6, 2009
Hans Johnson (Seattle, WA)
I purchased this scale about a week ago. I'd like to echo a review. This scale works well, gives an accurate reading every time. All you need to do when your scale arrives is pull out the pin from the bottom of the scale before stepping on it, step on the scale a few times to exercise the scale springs, zero out the scale by turning the black knob on the south side of the dial, step on the scale a few more times to fine tune your adjustment, then you should get a very accurate reading for the next 100 years. Repeat this zeroing out process every time you move the scale to a new location.

The scale is designed in England, but as a tiny sticker on the bottom side of the scale indicates, it's made in China. This is kind of a bummer for anyone trying to avoid purchasing products from China.

The only real gripe about this scale is the too thin rubber pad on the top of the scale. It is just thick enough to work, but thin enough to look cheap, if you're looking for it you can tell how the rubber pad is attached to the scale. In several small areas the rubber has a circular dot about a half inch across where the rubber is wedged into the scale to hold it all in place. If the rubber pad were a few millimeters thicker this would look like a great, high quality scale... Why skimp on something so cheap to produce?

5 out of 5 stars Great Scale!   September 28, 2009
James E. Allison (Houston, Texas USa)
The scale came on time, and was easily set up. I find it to be accurate and to give reproducible results- something I have never found in a consumer level digital scale. I highly recommend this scale for anyone serious about following their weight!

5 out of 5 stars Very accurate if --   September 24, 2009
William O. Schwennicke (Cambria, CA)
I bought a used Salter 200 scale from Buy Wholesale Cheap, through Amazon. It seems very accurate -- when used as explained below.
If I ease 30 lbs onto the scale, it indicates about 28 lbs. If I then give a quick, not real gentle, downward push, the needle settles out right at 30 lbs. Same thing for 60 lbs.
I weigh about 170 lbs. I checked the Salter against what I believe is a very accurate scale of the type where you slide weights across a bar. At my weight, there is about a pound of the above ease-on effect. If I give a push by bending my knees a little and then straightening up fast -- and I lean forward a bit -- the scale is right on. If, instead, I lean back as far as I can, the scale reads a pound or so low.
The scale actually is marked up to 400 lbs (not the 330 indicated by Amazon). The needle swings past 360 degrees to measure the upper 70 lbs.
Incidently, a household scale can be checked against produce brought home from your local market, if it's shown on your receipt to 0.01 lbs.

2 out of 5 stars not quit up to snuff   September 13, 2009

Got the scale on time and in good condition. It was very difficult to get a consistent reading. If i moved on thescale, (shifterd weight), the weight would change up to 5 pounds. Sent it back.
