Why You Should Monitor Body Water and Fat Percentage
If you're like most people, you're not drinking enough water. If you wait until you feel thirsty, your body is already suffering from the effects of mild dehydration. You continually lose water during the day through sweat, urine and breathing. The amount varies due to several reasons, including your physical activity level, illness, medications, poor nutrition, or even climatic conditions. The Tanita BF679W is calibrated for standard adults and children and stores data for 2 people and measures body fat in increments of 0.5 percentage points. This scale also features a guest mode, allowing you to use the unit without losing information already assigned to the personal keys. The scale's large, easy-to-read 2.25-inch, 2-line LCD shows weight and body fat simultaneously, and instantly compares these readings to healthy ranges based on the user's age and gender. Simply supply your gender, age, height and weight into the memory, step on the scale, and the monitor does the rest. The results are analyzed according to each user's information, and the result is the one of the most comprehensive at-home readings you can get.

Purchased this product about two months ago, and haven't had a single regret. It's a substantial scale in terms of weight and seems to be very well constructed. It delivered on every aspect of the features, brand and value proposition. Be warned though - if you've never had a body fat measurement taken, this scale (and what it reports) is likely to humble even the most active gym rat.

You can weight yourself, drink a six ounce bottle of something, weight yourself again, and this scale shows the difference. Pretty nice.

This is only my second ever digital body fat monitor scale that I've owned.

My first scale (Taylor) would give me a range of sometime 5 lbs within a minute (very frustrating) and it had an annoyingly loud beep when I used the body fat monitor function.

This Tanita is a huge improvement in those two categories.

I think the most that my weight has fluctuated within a minute's time was maybe half a pound, but usually 2/10th of a lb. (I've got in the habit of measuring myself at least 3 times in a row)

This scale is also much quieter. I measure my weight and body fat in the morning and my wife is still asleep. This also beeps indicating when to step on and another when it displays your body fat %, but it is not annoying at all (like the Taylor).

It's twice what I paid for the Taylor, but it's 10 times better.

Very Pleased with this purchase.

After a LOT of research, originally chose and purchased the Tanita BF679W in August. Accurate and aligns with weight taken during doctor visits. Love the historical feature and the programming feature. Easy to program for guests, too. We have a lot of guests in our household and everyone loves the scale and thinks its the best. Ordered a 2nd one in January as a gift. The receipiants love it! Great value for the features and accuracy.

Very Inconsistent February 15, 2010

This Tanita scale was very inconsistent and I returned in less than one week. I was very surprised it was so hard to get accurate readings and from day to day. It would fluctuate a much larger margin than it should. I would weigh +/- 9 lbs from day to day and fluctuate almost the same in the body fat %. I would not recommend purchasing this device.
