4 out of 5 stars I like it   January 5, 2009
Andy Higgins (Overland Park, KS)
Nice curtain rod if you don't plan on taking it down and reusing it. As other reviews say, once this goes up you can't take it down without cutting it. I put the rod up by myself although it says to have two people. I'm sure two people would make it easier, but it was fairly simple for myself. I've only been using it for a month so we'll see how it holds up. For someone with a small bathroom like myself, it's nice to be able to put a towel on one bar and have the shower curtain hide it.

5 out of 5 stars Satisfied outcome   December 28, 2008

Housewarebargain refunded the full amount of the Duo shower curtain rod, which was not new as advertised and would not extend and retract. Apparently, it was sent by a third party distributor. Will give them a good rating for the prompt refund.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product   November 16, 2008

This is a great product, my husband did not have any issues installing it, he did need a second pair of hands, but overall we purchased this so that we could stop getting the rust on our curtains and this did the trick.

1 out of 5 stars Challenge with the rod   October 24, 2008
Z. Gu
I brought this rod based on all the nice reviews I read here and the double rod seems to be a good solution for the tower. However,I'm facing a challenge right now. Does anyone know how and if the rod can be shortened, as I pull the rod out too much and it's longer than the space between the walls of the bath tub. It seems like I couldn't get it back short anymore...Any advise?

1 out of 5 stars They say stainless steel like it is a color, not a material   October 16, 2008

If this is made of stainless steel, then it is the first stainless steel thing I have owned that rusted in only a few months. And I don't mean a barely noticable rust spot, almost the entire length of the rod on the shower side is rusted on the bottom.

When it arrived, I read the entire box and all of the paperwork that came with it, everything called it "brushed finish" not stainless steel. So, the Amazon listing may just be wrong, but the item itself never seems to claim to be stainless.

The ends have to be held in place on the walls while the rods are extended out, making installation a 2 person job. The whole thing is quite heavy - not necessarily a bad thing, but dropping it on your tub would cause you to have a bad day.

Unlike most tension rods, it doesnot seem to 'un-tension.' The instructions actually say that if you over-extend the rod, you have to pull it out completely and put it back in, because you can't move it backwards. I think I will be using a pipe cutter to remove it when I find one that is actually stainless steel.

I also does not come with those little pieces of round plastic that go towards the middle of the rod, where the 2 halves of the rod meet. That leaves the sharp end of the larger rod for you to cut your hand on as you open/close the curtain.
