I just got this a few days ago. I ordered one for my DGD's 2nd birthday. It does work here - because I got one for myself. I've always had prisms in my rooms. This one tickles me because I'm fascinated with the concept of solar power, and the fact that it does turn the prism when the sun's rays hit the solar cell. I have no idea how long the life span will be. But I enjoy it now. My other prisms are better and larger lead crystals with more facets so the rainbows from this one are much smaller than my others. But it's fun and brightens my day. I recommend it as a novelty for anyone who needs their day brightened. If you want more and better rainbows - get one of the larger round lead crystal prisms that can also be bought here on Amazon.

I got this as a gift at Christmas and put it in my baby's room. It worked great for a month and she loved it, then it stopped working. It no longer turns and some of the gears are broken.

I looked at some of the critical reviews on this item. I wonder if the ones they bought were by the same manufacturer? A friend bought one in a cute little San Francisco boutique and gave it to me two Christmases ago. It worked really well. The gears worked properly, it would turn a little even on cloudy days, although there were no rainbows. When there were rainbows on sunny days, they were divine. The cat couldn't tear it up. I dropped it dozens of times. It didn't break until I stuck it to the wrong side of the sliding glass door, forgot it was there, and whacked it in two with the slider. It still works, except that it hangs precariously by a little piece of plastic that will still perch on the suction cup, and is always falling off. I'm here to get me another one!

I love the product, however, I somehow was sent two when I ordered one. One went to the billing address and one to the shipping address. I was billed for both but didn't return the second because it is such a nice item that I will gift it to someone else. The gift was received in the time that was promised.

This item is fabulous! It provides a constant stream of rainbows around the room as long as the sun is hitting the solar panel. It even works through the curtain sheers at the window! If you love rainbows like I do, you will really enjoy this item.
