GREAT FOR THE PRICE November 7, 2009

Ordered two units and compared accuracy with two Caliber III units I use in tobacco humidors - accuracy compares favorably with the Caliber units. Past experience with both analog and digital hygrometers has been mixed - a 5% to 10% variance is not unusual and calibration of analog units is a "pain". The Chaney unit has a very large display helpful for those of us over 65 years of age (doesn't require my bifocals to read all displays), the high/low readings reset is a plus for me (don't have to manually reset daily), and the price is very reasonable for a general purpose household hygrometer/thermomter (free shipping from AMAZON on two units) - I plan to buy two more units for family members. GREAT FOR THE PRICE!

We use a number of these in our cabinet shop and at job sites. Despite other's complaints about accuracy, we have found them to be quite reasonable, especially considering their low price. If you put ours side by side they will all stabilize to within a few percent of each other. They are small, yet the display is very easy to read. They use only a single AA battery. The only down side is that the 24 hour high and low display is not resettable without taking out the battery, but that's only a down side if you are looking for min/max in a time frame other than 24 hours.

The size and appearance of this device is good. Humidity reading is easy to observe and the low/high readings are a nice feature.

As far as performing the task for which this device was designed, it fails. Humidity readings are on average 20% high. The inability to calibrate the device is frustrating. Every time I look at it I have to remember to subtract 20.

This is a small unit with a big display.
The application for this unit is to monitor humidity as well as temperature.

While the temperature readings are spot on, the humidity is way off. To make things worse, you can not calibrate this unit.

A total waste of time and money if you need it to monitor temperature AND humidity.
