Wow! Totally blown away by how far we've come November 3, 2009

A few years ago I bought a Sony CD clock radio for about the same (or more) money. It's in the basement somewhere. I had been using a $10 clock until I bought this.

The main thing I wanted was a charger for my iPhone next to the bed without a lot of clutter, so this seemed like a good bet. Other than a little bit of review reading, I did absolutely no research on this product before buying it.

I'm completely blown away by how nice this clock is. It sets itself (and you can tweak the timezone). The display is sharp and the light level adjustable. The iPhone dock can be slid into the clock when not in use. The power brick is a bit large but not horrible. The clock is attractive, and has a spiffy little remote. The audio quality is not going to win any awards, but it delivers a solid audio performance for the money and form factor. There's 2 alarms, and the buttons are on the front.

I am really happy with this clock.

I really like this alarm clock so far. It works very well with the iPhone and I've only had a few small issues with it. Occasionally when you put the iPhone in the cradle it will only start charging the phone, but it won't play the audio. I've only had this happen maybe twice since I bought it 2 months ago. I think it's something to do with if you're playing a song already when you plug the phone into the dock.

It looks great, and I really like how the dock slides back into the clock for when you're not using it. The dimmer is nice, but I wish it would maybe go one shade darker. The audio quality is superb considering the size.

Overall, I'm very happy with the money I spent on this unit compared to the other ones available on Amazon.

My initial reason for this purchase was to have a cheap clock radio to have at work so that I can charge my iphone and listen to the radio.

After having this radio for a day, I can say 1 out of 2 is really bad.

As a alarm clock, this thing is great. Looks and functionality.

As for a radio, you're better of with a $5 Timex clock radio. This thing is lousy and I became disappointed in Sony for putting this item out on the market. It's one of those things that is 90% perfect but the 10% that is lacking is a deal breaker. This is the main reason I'm writing the review.

So main point, if you want a radio that works and pulls in signal, this item is not for you.

I bought this to reduce clutter on my night stand between my alarm clock & iPhone charger. It is the perfect solution! I don't need an iPod player or something with big booming speakers for an alarm clock - just a simple bed side alarm clock & charger. The brightness of the display isn't an issue at all. On the dimmest setting it is perfect and does not light up the entire room. The alarm clock has every feature I wanted, dual alarms with settings for M-F, all week & weekends only. The alarm has a subtle wake up, beeping one every few seconds then progressing to more beeps in succession as it continues to go off. You cal also choose to wake up to radio (AM & FM antennas are included) or your iPod/iPhone music.
The charging tray does feel a little flimsy, but it has held up quite well for me so far. I also didn't need an adapter to fit my phone with its hard case.

I was looking for a speaker doc for my iphone as well as a new alarm clock, well I got both. This Sony product was a great value and I really do like it. I read reviews about it not being good sound quality, and if you are looking for Bose speakers this isn't the product for you. I wanted something for my bedroom by my nightstand and it's perfect for that. The only thing with the alarm clock is that the Snooze buttom is very close to the button that changes the snooze intervals and I have on several occasions changed it from 15 minutes to 60 minutes. So I'm learning how to work that still, I guess it's hard to work anything when you're asleep...hehe. I'm thinking of getting this as a Christmas present for my brother and another one for the office, so definitely something I would recommend.
