We bought this rug to use in front of our fireplace so it could protect our floors in case if an ember or a burning log rolled out of the fireplace. Last night a log rolled out of the fireplace onto this rug and it caught fire. It was very dangerous and scary and I would not recommend this rug at all as a hearth rug. It may be ok for a rug used in other areas of the house, but this rug is not fireproof at all.
