Product Description
San Francisco-based Orlando Diaz-Azcuy’s mastery of the home interior has made him one of America’s most renowned designers. One of the West Coast’s most well-respected and prolific designers, his elegantly composed rooms speak volumes for his spare, intelligent, and disciplined touch. His interiors—located in Miami and New York as well as San Francisco—combine a modernist approach of architecturally clean lines and urbane sensibility with smart flashes of bold color or a pedigreed period statement piece to balance a curated look. Regarded by professionals as a "dean of interior design" and a pioneer of minimalist design since the early 1980s, Diaz-Azcuy has been an epic if under-recognized influence to all those interested in interior architecture and design. With insightful texts on his design methodologies and sensibility, Orlando Diaz-Azcuy stands to be one of the most important interior design monographs of the season.

5 out of 5 stars A beautiful guide to design and lifestyle   October 9, 2009
LR Mom
Orlando Diaz's breadth of style and creativity really shines through in this beautiful book. As a coffee table book it's beautiful to look at, but it's a wonderful resource for design inspiration and ideas of how to have a beautiful home that you can LIVE in. So many masters of interior designs have books that look beautiful but aren't truly livable spaces. This book shows that across a range of client's individual styles and tastes, Diaz is a master of mixing old and new, color and neutrality, varieties of textures it all comes together to create unique rooms and homes. While the text is often a bit off putting and pretentious, what comes through is the brilliance of Diaz's designs. Each home reflects Diaz' surprises and quirks that make it clear that he doesn't "do" just one look. The book is fabulous resource and a terrific gift for anyone who enjoys design and wants to learn about Diaz's vision.

What a great book! Compiled and edited by the incomparable Ms. Saeks. I own MANY of her books. Such inspiring work over the years from Mr. Diaz-Azcuy all in one book. This is a must for any design library.

20 books! I mean how does Diane Dorrans Saeks do it? Orlando Diaz- Azcuy's work finally all in one book! How exciting!
He is going to be known as a classic designer for years to come. Interior Design students will read about this and his work and see how his work had changed the way people design. A classic designer- right up there with Billy Baldwin, Francis Elkins and Michael Taylor. I don't think that San Francisco has had such a talented designer SINCE Michael Taylor. His work has been cutting edge. THE first to mix high and low items- way before HGTV started that trend. The photos are wonderful. Rizzoli really does the best of the best with the layouts and the photo quailty. This book should be in everyones library and I think makes the best gift!

3 out of 5 stars OK .........but   May 22, 2009

Interesting but, VERY poorly printed. The author, Diane Dorrans Saeks' prose is riddled with so many attribution and factual inaccuracies / falsehoods that they become extremely distracting! Where were the proof readers / editors?

Diaz is good, but, ....... Michael Taylor was better, and so is the new book out about him.
