Product Description
For 28 years the world-renowned interior designer Bunny Williams has been involved in a passionate love affair with an18th-century New England manor house that she found in sad repair. From the moment she walked up the driveway and her palms began to perspire, Williams knew she wanted the affair to last forever. In her sumptuous new book, An Affair with a House, the venerable decorator describes in detail how she and her husband, antiques dealer John Rosselli, rescued, nurtured, renovated, and decorated the well-worn house, giving it new life as they restored each room, resurrected the abandoned gardens, and filled this weekend home with family and friends.

Through photographs, anecdotes, how-tos, and recipes, Williams provides a rare inside look at a top decorator's retreat and explains how she approached the joys, pleasures, challenges, obstacles, and day-to-day realities of creating a beautiful, comfortable country home. An Affair with a House provides a wealth of advice on interior decor and such topics as mixing design styles, but it also addresses such practical matters as stocking the pantry and outfitting the linen closet. Beautiful photographs of the house, the gardens, and the property's rustic structures provide an intimate glimpse of the couple's lifestyle and illustrate a way of life we can all appreciate and learn from.

5 out of 5 stars Please write another wonderful book!!   October 30, 2009

This was a wonderful book!! I loved it! The home is inviting, and it makes you want to visit and be a guest. She included recipes which I thought was great.

5 out of 5 stars An Affair to aim for....   October 15, 2009
Ms. Fiona Booker
I have borrowed this book from the local library five times - pretty good indication of how much I have enjoyed it - so the obvious next step was to buy it! While the real thing is out of my league there are so many small ideas in the house, the garden and especially the conservatory that I can take away and make my own. I have really really enjoyed reading this book.

5 out of 5 stars dream generator   May 31, 2009

If you love looking at house and garden decorating books then this is one you should not be without. It is big, heavy, colorful, glossy and high quality. Every page has something beautiful on it. The house featured is decorated with items from the garden and the gardens are infused with decorating elements that could be in the house...Nothing stuffy or cold and modern just a home so many could feel comfortable in. I love to imagine entering the house with dogs at my heels, pulling off my riding boots and settling in with a hot cider by the fireplace.........
...The photos are clear, well composed and send me on a dreamy trip of what is possible for my house and garden. I guess I just admire and look up to Bunny Williams. I never heard of her till I met her here in this book! Thank you for sharing Bunny.....

5 out of 5 stars 5 Star second hand book.   January 17, 2009

'An Affair with a House' is a lovely book, but unfortunately the copy we received is a second hand book, rather than a new one as ordered. We are home publishers, and as such, send books all over Australia and to many parts of the world. Amazon packaging was adequate without being of the quality we use, but was good enough for the book to arrive in much better condition than it did. The book we received looked like a second hand copy. It had damage to each corner of its hard cover, but more importantly, the central binding is damaged(the pages at the top of the book are pulling away from the hard cover)...damage that comes from inappropriate use or handling, and indicative of second hand books.
So I will send the copy we received back, and ask for a new, undamaged copy to be sent.

Fantastic decorating book! The pictures in the book are as lovely as seeing Bunny William's home in person. I recently toured her home and garden in Litchfield County. It is a beautiful, charming estate. The book is a wonderful memory and reference for me. Very inspiring!
