Amazon.com Review
Butter stored in the fridge tastes like leftovers and tears up your toast, while butter stored on the counter spreads easily but goes rancid in days. What to do? Norpro has the answer. Simply pack the Norpro Butter Keeper's inverted lid with softened butter, put an inch or so of cool water in the base, and invert the lid on top. Water makes an airtight seal between lid and base, keeping butter soft, sweet, and spreadable for up to 30 days without refrigeration. (You'll need to replace the water every few days.) Looking equally at home on the counter or at the table, this ceramic crock features delicate blue bands and a handle on top. It measures four inches in diameter by 3-1/2 inches tall, and is completely dishwasher-safe. --Mary Park

5 out of 5 stars Spreadable Butter Anytime-A Wondeful Thing   October 26, 2009
Adam G. Zachary (Chicago, IL USA)
The Norpro Butter Keeper is one of those products I wish I had purchased years ago. I have always kept butter out of the fridge in a covered dish but, inevitably, the butter would go bad in a couple of weeks. With the Norpro, I can enjoy butter for a month or more and it is always perfectly spreadable. Also, the design is very functional, with the lid acting as a stand when flipped upside down. Overall, this is a great product, welcome in any toast-lovers kitchen.

4 out of 5 stars This will make you a butter fan!   October 23, 2009
Amy S. Mcfarland (California)
This little butter bell is a fantastic buy. The price is very reasonable and the size is perfect for one stick or a 1/2 cup of butter. The temperature of the room does affect storage, but it helps to keep cool water in the base of the bell. During all but the warmest summer days here (N. California) our butter stayed fresh and easily spreadable. During the few weeks where it was above 78 in my house, the butter melted and plopped into the water below, which was a little gross.
I recommend changing the water weekly, as little particles of butter can drop into the water below, and if left in they can start to go bad (especially in the warmer months).

5 out of 5 stars Butter Bells Are Incredible!   October 10, 2009
J. Bushmire (Peachtree City, GA, USA)
I am 100% happy with my butter bell!

I get to use a natural spread, no transfats or chemicals, and this works exactly as described. I haven't had a single issue that others have mentioned. As far as the butter falling out, I think perhaps others are not letting a stick of butter sit on the counter during the day to become soft. If you shove hard butter into it, I would predict it to fall out.

I have been using this for awhile now, and have not had any butter spoil. I used to leave some on the counter for days at a time sitting in a dish before without issue. This makes it even better.

It is also a great conversational item. I am in my 30's, and I had not ever seen one before. None of my friends had either.

Everyone should have one.

Jason, Peachtree City, GA

Product was just like those we bought in a local store, but half the price.

3 out of 5 stars soft butter   October 2, 2009
Ginnyhem (Sierra Foothills)
Great concept but I am having trouble with the butter molding. When I just leave it on the counter in a butter dish it doesn't do that.
Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? There were no instructions.
