Product Description
Ceiling-mounted garage elevator lets you load and lift storage items overhead, out of the way, without a ladder. Simply load the 4ft. x 4ft. steel platform while you safely stand on the ground, then raise it to the ceiling by cranking the handle. Great for boxes, tires, large tools, snowblowers, ladders, lumber, third-row car seats, canoes, kayaks and more.

Amazon.com Product Description
The RacorPro PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift Storage Rack lets you load and lift heavy items to the ceiling for storage without the need for a ladder. It helps to free up valuable floor space in your garage or storage area and allows you to store heavier items, such as furniture, lawn mowers, tires, canoes, snow throwers, and more. The heavy-duty 4-by-4-foot platform is built to last and provides 16 square feet of additional storage space in your garage or storage area.

The RacorPro PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift Storage Rack:
  • Frees up an additional 16 square feet of floor space.
  • Handles up to 250 pound items.
  • Securely and safely locks into place.

The heavy-duty design can handle 250 pounds. View larger.

Raising and lowering heavy items takes minimal effort, thanks to the lift's unique pulley system. View larger.
Heavy-Duty Lifting Capacity for Heavier Items
The PHL-1R is both tough and durable, and it's built to handle heavier items up to 250 pounds. The heavy-duty steel support beams and 4-by-4-foot platform are made from high-quality materials that are made to handle tough loads and provide years of consistent performance. The unit is built to lower 8 feet from the ceiling, accommodating storage spaces with taller ceilings. The drill driver attachment allows you to raise and lower the platform using your own drill.

The unique pulley system makes it easy to raise and lower heavy items with minimal effort on your part. With a durable winding axle that works in conjunction with the pulleys and strong nylon cables, the PHL-1R handles the brunt of the weight so you don't have to, while raising or lowering the platform quickly and smoothly.

Safety Lock Ensures Safety and Stability
The innovative safety lock ensures that the load stays locked into place when fully raised to the ceiling. Simply use the winding crank to engage the safety lock when the platform is raised to its highest position, and use the winding crank's integrated hook to disengage the safety lock and safely lower the platform.

An Additional 16 Square Feet of Storage Space for Your Garage
The PHL-1R's tough 4-by-4-foot platform gives you an additional 16 square feet of valuable storage space in your garage or storage area. This allows you to store your lawn mower out of the way during the winter or to store your snow thrower during the summer months, clearing valuable floor space and creating tidier, more useful quarters.

The RacorPro PHL-1R HeavyLift Storage Rack measures 49.25 x 17.5 x 7.25 inches (packaged) and weighs 74 pounds (packaged). It comes in a smooth black finish and includes all necessary hardware. Additional tools required for installation include: stud finder (for drywall ceilings), adjustable or box end wrench, socket wrench, cordless drill/driver, Phillips screwdriver, pencil, and a 4-foot straightedge or chalkline.

What's in the Box
Winding crank assembly, two arm assemblies, two cable assemblies (including nylon cables), three wire grids, two wire beam supports, center spindle square end, center spindle round end, gear drive, Allen wrench, four end caps, 20 hex bolts, four Allen head screws, two hex head screws, two fender washers, eight long machine bolts, 16 washers, eight nuts, 12 "J" hooks, 12 washers, 12 nuts.

5 out of 5 stars perfect   March 3, 2010
James R. Cocco (Sarasota, FL)
Works great...I have two in my garage. Installation wasn't hard, either. The only drawback is that the cables only allow the rack to be lowered 8ft. and I have 12ft. garage ceilings, so it's a few feet off the ground when fully lowered. No big deal though, great product. The new version has an attachment so that you can use your drill to raise and lower the rack, too. this helps a lot. (if you have a strong drill)

1 out of 5 stars Cheaply made and wrong/missing parts included   February 14, 2010

I was expecting a well built product from the Racor PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift model since it was supposed to be the heavier duty version of the lighter weight model Pro+. I bought two of these at once and was dissapointed at the cheap materials and construction when I opened the package. The wire grid sections were bent and fit terribly on the support beams. The J-hooks and nuts were of inferior quality with three of them having stripped out threads. The included lag screws for mounting the support rails to the ceiling rafters were cheap grade and I twisted off two of them upon installation into the joists after following the directions and pre-drilling 1/8" pilot holes for the lag screws. Do yourself a BIG favor and make a trip to the local hardware store and pick up some quality hardened lag screws and extra J-hooks to avoid the frustration I had trying to install this product.

Worst thing of all is that both of these units were shipped with the WRONG gear box assembly for the hoisting mechanism. They were packaged with the lightweight PRO+ gearbox which apparently has a much smaller drive shaft than what ships with the HeavyLift model. There was NO POSSIBLE WAY to continue the installation until the correct model gearbox can be shipped as replacements to what was obviously poor quality control during packaging of these units. I mean, BOTH kits had the WRONG part!! So, I'm stuck with partially installed units hung on the ceiling awaiting replacement parts.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this product. It's not worth it!

4 out of 5 stars Quality Product - reasonable installation   February 6, 2010

Bought and installed two. Work great and are great addtions to my garage. Product is well constructed and high quality. Only complaint is the directions. Didn't seem to be detailed enough and the website did not have the video link as promised in the instructions. Took a few hours for the first, but the second was less that an hour. Had to do/undo things the first time because of the instructions. Two man job. Now very satisfied.

4 out of 5 stars cable lifted storage rack   February 3, 2010
Smiley (dayton, ohio)
I bought 3 racks for the garage and found them pretty easy to assemble. I suggest using a partner to hang the brackets to the ceiling. Because holding up the bracket and trying to attach it to the ceiling and keep things square is difficult for one person. But that seemed to be the only difficult part of the installation.
The racks work very well.
I would use a drill to run the hand crank. The gearing is very small so it can lift up to 250 lbs. The manual mentions this fact.
We are very pleased. good product.

5 out of 5 stars I bought 2 of these units - love them!   February 2, 2010
N. F. Talesfore (Los Gatos, CA USA)
I purchased 2 of these units. After installing them they work great!! I use a power drill to crank them up and down - so simple and safe my wife can do this without me. This is a great product - well designed and engineered. Best to install with 2 people but could be done alone. The only critical item is to get spacing and parallelism correct of 2 main pulley brackets mounted to ceiling joists, after that all goes smoothly.
