thermos food jar keeps my soup the same temp at the end of the day as it did when it came out of the microwave

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Hot Lunch in Winter   November 18, 2009
Kathy L. (New York, NY)
I bought this thermos specifically for hot soup or pasta lunches for the winter and I am very pleased. The directions that come with the thermos suggest you fill it with hot tap water but I second the recommendation that you fill the thermos with boiling water instead for about ten minutes. I usually eat lunch about 4 1/2 hour to 5 hours after I pack it, and whether it's soup or pasta, my lunch is steaming hot. I was actually surprised at how hot the pasta was. The thermos would be easier to eat out of if it had been a bit shorter and wider, but portability-wise, it fits compactly into the bag I usually carry to work. I haven't had any issues at all with spillage or leakage, and it seems very sturdy overall.

The telescoping spoon that comes with the thermos is kinda hit-or-miss: I prefer to bring along an extra plastic spoon.

5 out of 5 stars Great for hot food in winter   November 16, 2009

I just purchased this thermos so that I could take hot food to school. When I first received it I was surprised at how small it is. I guess I underestimated how small 16oz is. Just know before you order it that it is only big enough to hold a can of soup. So far I have only carried soup and stew in it. I wanted something bigger so I can carry large amounts of pasta. It might be worth it just to buy two of them if you want more quantity. Still a great product.

5 out of 5 stars Great thermos   November 10, 2009

My son decided no more school lunches, so I bought him this thermos. Soups stay hot until he eats lunch at 1245. I make his lunch at 730am. Pasta is only warm, not hot. No big deal. I heat the Chef Boyardee mini ravioli. Maybe only warm because there's not so much sauce. Anyways, He loves his thermos.

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Thermos ! ! !   October 19, 2009

This really holds the food HOT. My biggest critics are my kids and they love it. They can finally take hot pasta or soup to school and have a hot meal. But, you MUST follow the instructions. I recommend that you allow the BOILING HOT water to sit in the thermos for a minimum of 15 minutes. Keep in mind you must put piping hot food into the container. The kids tell me that when they open the thermos hot steam comes out and the food is nice and warm. I typically fill the thermos with food around 7:00am and the kids eat lunch anywhere from 12:15 to 1:00 pm. It really seems to work. This was worth the money!
