I bought one of these new ones to see if the poor spout would work better. It does, but is also probably the vulnerable part of the design. Stainless body is thinner as well. It does work well though although I am sure it will not survive a tumble from my motorcycle like the old model. Mind your tongue! March 7, 2010 BB I have been using this cup for some time now and I have no complaints about it. It is easy to clean and does the job. I had another vacuum cup that had separate pieces to the cover, so to clean it you had to unclick and then clean these very small pieces. Not true with this cup. The cover is one piece. I place it in my bag full and carry it to work with no spills in the bag. I sometimes don't get to drink my coffee straight away and hours may go by before I get to it and the coffee is still hot when I do. This is why I say mind your tongue. I have gotten several compliments on the look of it as well. Effective Leak Proof Coffee Thermos February 28, 2010 lineread 1 out of 1 found this review helpful I've owned this thermos for just about 2 years now and I have to say that I love it. It seals perfectly and is completely leak proof unless you overfill it. The whole spring loaded top-flipping-up part is kind of intense. In a small seminar or meeting, you might feel kind of self conscious popping your bottle top just to take a drink. On the other hand, you can also hold the lid and let it open more slowly if you want to be more discreet. Personally, I got over it pretty quickly. The lip area looks a little strange in pictures, but it is easy to drink from. This thing is definitely a thermos, as it keeps liquids warm for hours and hours. The only area that I feel needs some addressing is the clean-ability of the product. There are two main components to worry about, the lower bottle and the top assembly. After awhile, or when you inevitably leave coffee in there over the weekend without washing it out, the stainless steal bottle will get coffee stained inside. For a long time I just put up with this, as it doesn't seem to effect taste. However, I recently realized that if you drop an Electrosol "Finish" dish water tablet in it and fill it with hot water, shake it up, let it sit for a half hour, it will literally be good as new. The top part is harder to clean. It has some seals that are hard to get to and are not dishwasher safe. Furthermore, the top part stains. It's just how it is, you can't get it out, and it doesn't seem to effect the taste. The plastic just takes on a brownish tone. Personally, I never put anything but straight black coffee in this product. If it's anything like a latte, or coffee with sugar, I'm afraid it will get in the seals and be hard to clean/gross. Still, I suspect a hot water rinse of the seals would probably clean it thoroughly. The REAL deal! February 26, 2010 Stuck out in the (Middle of Nowhere, Iraq) Finally...A thermos that keeps your drink at about the same temperature as it was when poured (yes, even hot drinks)! The great thing is that it stays that temperature for around 6 to 8 wonderful hours. That's right ladies and gentlemen, you read it correctly 6 to 8 hours. This is so far in my experience, the best travel mug I have come across. The cap is even spring-loaded, so when you push the release button, the cap flips open and stays open until you close it. This is perfect for when you are are driving and have to operate the mug one-handed. Now you no longer have to worry about having the cap swinging shut on you in between gulps. Another plus I have found is that even if you leave the cap open for an extended period (20 or so minutes) the temperature of the drink will not be affected that much thanks to the insulation materials used. I know this because the cap to my first one broke (my mistake) and several times I have forgotten to put the top of the cap (the part with the blue nipple thing-a-mabob) on. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that this mug IS 100% leak-proof; make sure you tighten it all the way and you hear the button "click" when you close it. All this for slightly over 20 bucks...not bad at all. P.S.: As a word of caution, make sure NEVER to twist off the cap with the lid open; this is how I broke my first one. great thermos February 26, 2010 DPG Very solid product. Keeps cold beverages cold, hot beverages hot. Can retain temperature for approx. 10 hours in my experience so far--plenty for my purposes. It's ergonomic, compact, doesn't leak, and built solidly.
